CompareText vs Text Compare (text-compare.com)

Text Compare at text-compare.com has been a popular free diff tool since 2010. CompareText is also free and works the same way: paste two versions of a text and click a button to see the differences. This page covers where the two differ, so you can decide which one fits what you need. Everything stated about Text Compare comes from its own public pages.

Sharing a comparison

Text Compare lets you email a comparison to an address and says it does not save or share that address. CompareText instead gives you a link. Click Share above the result and you get a URL with a random 8-character code that anyone can open until it expires. That works better when the person you are sending it to wants to switch views or re-run the comparison with different options, and you do not need anyone's email address.

Advertising

Text Compare's privacy page describes an advertising contract with Ezoic that uses third-party cookies for interest-based ads. CompareText shows no advertising and sets no advertising cookies. Details are on the privacy page.

Options and views

Text Compare offers the same four clean-up tools as CompareText, under slightly different names, and one side-by-side view. CompareText adds options that change how differences are found: ignoring leading and trailing whitespace, highlighting changes inside identifiers, and showing every line instead of collapsing unchanged sections. It also offers a unified view and recognizes blocks of lines that were moved rather than rewritten, with links between their old and new positions.

Switching from Text Compare

There is nothing to migrate. Paste the same two texts into CompareText and click Compare Text. The tool called "Remove excess white space" on Text Compare is "Trim whitespace" here, and "Switch texts" is the arrow button between the two boxes.
